One more year, the Rural League organizes its Day of the Windmills, which this year celebrates its fourth edition, in collaboration with the Municipal Neighborhood Board of Perín and City of Cartagena, coinciding with the celebration of activities of the Night of the Museums .
The day, which will be open doors, will take place on Saturday May 18 from 12.30 in the Mill Zabala de Perugia, where you can enjoy an approach to the giants that once reigned in our fields and today they claim for its restoration and cultural and tourist value.
The mill Zabala is a windmill of Latin sail, the oldest of those that still survive in our region, which for centuries has been serving to grind the grain and get the necessary flour, essential source for the food of our people and your farm animals.
Already in the Cadastre of Ensenada, in 1755, this windmill is registered, which for several years was dismasted by a strong gale, and now, thanks to the work of the City of Cartagena, has been restored, ready to get back on track.
The Rural League of Campo de Cartagena, within its activities of defense and promotion of the rural heritage of the Campo de Cartagena region, organizes talks, tours, guided tours and various activities with different groups throughout the year to publicize the rich rural heritage: windmills, cisterns, ferris wheels, mansions, windmills, etc., as well as all the cultural legacy, celebrations, traditions, folklore and oral literature of our area.
