Cartagena hosts from Wednesday 15 to Sunday 19 May the XIV Men's Volleyball Spain Championship.
Between 450 and 500 athletes will meet in the Wssell pavilions of Guimbarda and Cabezo Beaza for the dispute of this competition.
24 teams from all over Spain will compete for the trophy this year.
Entry to all matches will be free.
The Councilor for Sports of Cartagena, Manuel Mora, has presented the event with the general director of Sports of the Region of Murcia, Alonso Gómez, the president of the Volleyball Federation of the Region of Murcia José Valera, the president of the tournament organizer , Cartagena Beach Volleyball Club Ángel Sánchez Álvarez and the Secretary of the Cartagena Beach Volleyball Club, Miguel Álvarez.
The mayor of Sports of Cartagena Manuel Mora states that "the competition is going to play in the Cabezo Beaza pavilions with 3 tracks and also in the Wssell Central Pavilion of Guimbarda.
It will consist of two previous phases.
They will be between May 15 and 17.
From there, the teams will go to the final phase, which will be held between Saturday and Sunday in the Central Pavilion. "
The match for the third and fourth place and the grand final will be on the morning of Sunday, May 19th.
The councilman of Sports of Cartagena, Manuel Mora, adds that the organization of the tournament contributes an "economic boost to the city through the different tourist visits, overnight stays or even for restoration.
We must not forget that a thousand companions are expected to come ".
The rest of the participants wanted to emphasize that this sporting event can help to promote sports tourism and the historic, cultural and scenic attractions of Cartagena.
It has also been stated that Cartagena is a benchmark in volleyball at the national level.
