Pedestrianization and the various urban reforms that have taken place in the last twenty years in the municipality have not taken into account the need to relieve neighbors and tourists before the rigors of sun and heat.

According to the liberal party, despite the fact that the PSOE-MC government announced at the beginning of the legislature that it planned to comply with the agreement promoted by Cs and set in motion the planting of trees and the installation of awnings and pergolas in the main streets of the center, " nothing has been done in this sense, on the contrary, every urban remodeling has been eliminating more and more trees in Cartagena, "says the spokesman and candidate of Cs to the mayor of Cartagena, Manuel Padín.

Citizens will promote in its first 100 days of government the installation of shade areas through awnings and pergolas and as far as possible, trees, streets, squares, playgrounds, school playgrounds, and esplanades more frequented by neighbors of Cartagena and tourists.

The liberal party ensures that many playgrounds scattered throughout the municipality of Cartagena are underutilized during the hottest months due to the strong heat and the absence of shaded areas.

Citizens will plan and rigorously detect the children's areas that are in the open, "a good example is the playground that exists in Antonio de Cabezón street in El Bohío, whose padded floor has been arranged recently at the request of our Group Municipal, but the children's games are falling apart, there is no protection going to separate the premises of a dangerous street with heavy traffic, and is exposed, under the damaging effects of the sun, "said Manuel Padin.

Manuel Padín has said that although the City Council has only competencies for the maintenance of schools, "we must look at what the neighboring municipality of Murcia has done, which compiled a list of the schools that need more shade to facilitate it. to the Regional Administration, we can not afford to stay behind in this matter, so Citizens will require several municipal technicians to travel when the Executive comes to the different centers of the municipality to know their situation and assess the best alternative depending on the characteristics of the center (trees, pergolas, awnings ...).

According to the spokesperson of Citizens in Cartagena, "we understand that the lack of foresight of the previous corporations will make the installation of trees difficult and expensive, which is why our Group considers it necessary to bring to Cartagena the measures that have been adopted in other cities such as Malaga. , Madrid, or commercial streets in the cities of Murcia and Lorca where awnings have been installed with very good results.The material used there is very flexible, fireproof, breathable, transparent, so it avoids water bagging, works as an insulator thermal and therefore improves energy savings and reduces heat.
