A good number of colleagues, family and friends of the photographer José Albaladejo Ros, gathered Thursday at the Tomás Rico Exhibition Hall of the Consistorial Palace to attend the opening of the posthumous exhibition 'The ubiquitous gaze 1992-2018', a tour of the most significant events that have taken place in the last 30 years in Cartagena.
The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, along with other members of the municipal corporation, accompanied the family of the photojournalist in an act in which the human quality was shown, as well as professional, who was a municipal photographer for more than 20 years, "A tribute to our beloved grumpy, who knew how to capture as anyone the essence of the events that make up the history of our city," said the first mayor on the photographer who died last September.
The sample consists of 80 photographs, 20 of them chosen by Albaladejo himself before his death for a photojournalism exhibition in which he was to participate.
The rest have been selected by two of his fellow photographers and friends, Pablo Sánchez del Valle and Pedro Martínez.
It reviews unique aspects of today and the cultural and social manifestations that the municipality of Cartagena has experienced in the last three decades, of which it was a direct witness with its camera and generating a special popularity its presence in the events for its gift of ubiquity.
In the selection of photographs several months have been used to examine briefly the vast archive of José Albaladejo contained in thousands of negatives, tens of CDs and 40 hard drives in digital format.
An arduous work that, as pointed out by Pablo Sánchez, has brought to light an authentic 'graphic treasure' that should be kept in the Municipal Archive and be part of the cultural heritage of the city.
