This Friday starts the festival Much More May with intense programming (09/05/2019)

The tenth edition of the Festival Much More May officially begins this Friday, May 10 with many interesting proposals in different venues, not only from the city center but also in several of the six neighborhoods invited on this occasion.

From Friday 10 to Tuesday 21, the festival will develop from its different sections more than 80 proposals in which all the artistic expressions are found with a common motto: "The face of the other: Art and Hospitality".

The festival begins with the inauguration at Arqua, at 6:00 p.m., of the OBERTURA installation by the artist Ángel Haro, one of the emblematic installations that can be visited throughout the festival.

Haro: "This wreck, like split fruit, releases from its frames a voice that speaks to us of an unsuccessful destiny, and in turn of a new beginning, its burden of uncertainties has been spilled and feeds the hope of the wanderers. infinite journey, in a landscape where clamoring gestures that allude to the tectonic encounter of cultures and fears, Obertura challenges us like an ancient god, and in the air, a heartbeat invades the room between steps and laughter that speaks of encounters full of humanity."

One hour later, at 7:00 p.m. in the Exhibition Hall of the ISEN University Center, the exhibition ROUTES (DES) HUMANAS, which was produced by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Murcia, and coordinated by Aurora Alcaide, was inaugurated. has eight pieces made by students of the subject of Migratory Aesthetics in Contemporary Art.

The pieces that make up the exhibition address migratory movements and processes, both personal and external, going into various aspects, such as the construction of subjectivity and the identity search of displaced people or those exposed to different cultural contexts;

the problematic that entails the enunciation of the Other;

the differences between the tourist trip and the migratory one;

the emotional fissures suffered by the immigrants (uprooting, nostalgia, frustration, split sense of body ...) or cultural exchanges that may arise from their presence and particular view, among others.

In the Pedreño Palace, headquarters of the Cajamurcia Foundation at 7:30 p.m., the essayist and philosopher Santiago Alba Rico will talk about THE ISLAMO-PHOBIC DANGER AND INSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY, an activity carried out in collaboration with the Cartagena Piensa program.

"Just look at the history to assess the dangers of this construction of an" internal enemy. "It was done in the last century with the Jews and is still done, on a much smaller scale, with women or homosexuals. dead and many dramatic resistances today has imposed a politically correct discourse that happily represses anti-Semitic, macho or homophobic statements of our politicians and our media.In the case of Islamophobia, the exact opposite happens: institutions, leaders and the journalists who naturalize - as happened for centuries with Jews, women and homosexuals - this "racist" rejection towards the Muslims If we talk about Spain, a country where complaints of Islamophobia have increased from 2014 to 500%, it is very necessary to warn , before it's too late, about this institutional responsibility. "

At 9:30 p.m. in the Patio of the Faculty of Business Sciences of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (former CIM) the Isabel Lavella Company will offer us the piece BRUMA.

It is a work of contemporary dance in which the dancers / actors, of different nationalities, intertwine their stories, in a deliberately chaotic way.

It shows an internal perspective of emotions, imbalance and fear.

At 23:00 in the Muralla del Mar, the Artisanal Film Laboratory (LACA) and Mario Méndez offer us a video intervention that with the title of THOSE WHO ARRIVE will show us images of domestic cinema with stories of those who come from the sea .
