With the Day of Europe ends the activities that in the last 10 days have organized from Space Mobility of the Department of Youth, along with the Eurodesk Network, to celebrate the ninth edition of the European Youth Week.
Every two years, the European Youth Week wants to celebrate and promote the activities of young people through events organized in all countries participating in the Erasmus + program.
This year, under the motto "Democracy and I", participants in the different organized activities have worked on the ways in which young people can influence decisions and participate actively in society.
The Bolsa de Idiomas program, with a special edition of its multicultural gathering, Babel, gave the kick-off to this "European Youth Week" with the help of the European volunteers who, through the Erasmus + program, are developing their project in the different programs of the Youth Council.
Talks and workshops have also been given in Secondary Education Centers, not only in Cartagena.
The manager of the Eurodesk Network in Cartagena has gone to Torre Pacheco and Dolores de Pacheco to inform more than 100 young people about the opportunities that the European Union puts at their disposal.
Meetings with young people of Youth Guarantee to inform them about the European Body of Solidarity, an International Cuisine workshop and the Pre-Youth Exchange Planning Visit that will take place between June 6 and 11, entitled 'Guarantee your Youth Guarantee' and organized by the Euronation Association and the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena.
They are other activities that have taken place over these days.
Today, Thursday May 9, Day of Europe, this calendar ends with the delivery of small gifts to all those who attend any of the services of the Youth Council.

The date is the anniversary of the historic "Schuman statement".
In a speech delivered in Paris in 1950, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Robert Schuman, in which he presented his idea of ​​a new form of political cooperation in Europe that would make unthinkable a new war between European nations.
Schuman's proposal is considered the beginning of what is now the European Union and since then there are acts of celebration every May 9.
