This morning, the president of MC Cartagena, Jesús Giménez, number two of the candidacy for mayor, has visited the surroundings of the Cathedral and the Roman Theater to check the state of the area after the heavy rains last April.
It is worth remembering that residents and merchants in the area have denounced the humidity and leaks from Calle del Osario and the subsoil of the temple, without the Bishopric or the administrations having attended to their claims.
In this regard, Giménez, after checking in situ the state of the cornice park of the Roman Theater and Osario Street, has ensured that "weeks after the rains there is still water that is undoubtedly seeping into homes and shops of the area through the basement of the Cathedral, the Roman Theater and its Museum, generating damages and compromising the structure of the temple itself ".
"We receive news that the Museum of the Theater has accumulated in its facilities water on rainy days, they have even had to place cubes in some areas," stressed the president of MC.
Adoption of urgent measures
Well-known and analyzed the situation, Jesús Giménez has valued the need to face, in an urgent and immediate way, two measures.
In this sense, he has pointed out, in the first place, to the Bishopric as responsible.
"The Cathedral of Cartagena must be already roofed, it does not admit any further delays, in case of having them, we will think that those who say they have signed a protocol to restore it, what they really want is to fall, because the leaks and the accumulation of rainwater they make it a raft. "
He then pointed to the urban environment, where "the added feeling is that the PP project, which destroyed the Baroness Hill, turning it into a black fall point, does not have rainwater collection or does not work, which has caused, in spite of the scarce rains, that all its surroundings are in danger ".

On the other hand, the cartagenerista leader has demanded a diligent action on the part of the concessionaire and the municipal services "so that they verify if it is a defect in the project, either in the execution or in the maintenance, and it is solved, demanding in his case the responsibilities to the company, the neighbors are victims of their neglect ".
In conclusion, Jesus Giménez said that, once again, "our heritage is in danger because the administrations governed by PP and PSOE, and it seems that even the Bishopric, only interested in the vote of Cartagena but not their heritage."
