Both Lopez and Castejón promised to use that plot for the expansion of the center, a land that is mostly municipality.
There are also private areas, which the mayor said that permutaría other land owners
A few weeks ago, Podemos-Ctssp visited the land where the town hall wants to move the Civil Guard Barracks, a plot located where the traveling circuses currently sit and right next to the Municipal Conservatory and the IES Ben Arabí.
The director of the conservatory and a neighborhood representative also attended the meeting, in which they transferred to the councilor their concern about the recent news that the GC headquarters was to be located precisely on the land that the municipality had previously planned for the expansion of the Cartagena conservatory.
During the tour we could verify the lack of space of the classrooms of the center, with spaces in which hardly fit the instruments and the students in their tests.
In addition, dozens of applications are left out every year due to lack of places, so an urgent extension of the building is necessary.
"It would be very good for Cartagena to expand existing studies and have a Municipal Conservatory of Music and Dance to expand the range of Performing Arts in Cartagena," said Pilar Marcos, councilor and candidate for mayor in the upcoming municipal elections.
"It is clearly demonstrated that the building of the Conservatory, which dates from 1995, has been small in the face of current demand, and needs to adapt to new needs," Marcos continued, while at the same time ensuring that the program being prepared by Podemos Cartagena and soon to be announced, this need of first order for culture and arts in the municipality is included.
For its part, the neighborhood representative moved the feeling of neighbors in the area, who have long demanded a public park on the same site, for leisure of young and old, while also expressed concern about the fact that the barracks will be attached to two educational centers.
We can take a motion to the plenary session so that this ground is given to the Conservatory and expand the educational offer of music and dance, and so that the rest is a green area with parks and sports activities.
The motion will also insist that the municipal groups with representation in the Municipal Corporation commit themselves to carry in their next electoral programs the commitment of the cession of the municipal lands, as well as the negotiation with the owners of the lands annexed to the Conservatory, to execute the extension of the same one, besides a park and green zone for enjoyment of neighbors of the zone.
