Researchers from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) will direct nine R + D projects or subprojects to which the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has granted almost 800,000 euros of funding in the provisional resolution of calls for competitive grants of the programs 'Challenges of research' and 'Generation of knowledge'.
The financed projects will be developed in different topics, from agricultural and agri-food sciences to energy and transport, through information and communication technologies, industrial production, the environment, physics and mathematics.
The Ministry has also decided to grant two predoctoral teacher training contracts based on these aid programs.
The project that has been granted greater funding, 188,000 euros, seeks to optimize the value chain of the horticultural sector "from a holistic perspective, analyzing the entire environmental, social and economic life cycle of agrifood production," says the researcher responsible, Encarna Aguayo.
Other developments that will be carried out by UPCT researchers include accelerators for communication networks, navigation on ships ice, dam design and robotic monitoring of the welfare of the elderly.
