Last Sunday April 28 was held the awards ceremony of the third edition of the contest of drawings and children's murals "Trinidad García", in the town of La Magdalena, who gives its name to the historic deputation of west Cartagena.
The day began at 10 o'clock in the morning, at which time they began to arrive from the municipalities of Cartagena, La Union and Fuente Álamo, the elementary students participating in this contest, together with family, friends and teachers, who received a chocolate with buns and the exhibition of selected drawings finalists in the social room.
After the theatrical performance of the work: "La ratita Presumida" by the Cultural Association "Colorín Colorete", around 300 people gathered in the plaza of the hermitage of La Magdalena, attended the gala hosted by the Cartagena speaker Gaspar Zamora , who was calling the stage to all the finalists present and revealing the jury's decision and the names of the first three prizes of each category, which were accompanied by loud applause.
Only the first positions could take the prized trophy of the contest: "THE AUTILLO", designed by the Cartagena painter and sculptor Juan Pedro Esteban and printed with 3D technology by the Support Service to technological research of the UPCT.
The finalists of the individual categories were presented with laptops, tablets, painting cases and easels, diplomas and materials for handicrafts and drawing.

They also took the stage to collect special prizes for primary schools: Antonio García García, (director of CEIP San Pedro de Las Palas), Alfonso Hernández Parra, (director of CEIP Azorín de Molinos Marfagones), along with teachers and students from its centers and Mª José García Pérez and Laura Lorente Gutiérrez, (president and secretary of the AMPA of the CEIP Alfonso X El Sabio de La Unión), who took their El Elillo schools and a mobile sound system to their respective schools.
Pilar Saorín Pérez, teacher and tutor of the 2nd Primary Course of the CEIP San Felix de Cartagena, together with her students, was in charge of collecting the prize for the entire winning class in the MURAL category, consisting of a Trophy, a transport in bus to make an excursion through the countryside of Cartagena and a mobile sound equipment.
The awards were given by Juan Lorenzo Mendoza, (Councilor for Education and Culture of the City Council of Fuente Álamo), D.
Miguel Díaz Delgado, (Head of Unit of Students and University Extension of the UPCT), Jose Carlos Fernández, (coordinator of the Department of Education of Cartagena), Marta García Gómez, (member of the Municipal Board of Molinos Marfagones), Ginesa García Conesa, (President of the Neighborhood Association of La Magdalena) and Carmen Cervera Mateu of the Pigment Artists Association.
Finally, the draw for participation in the contest was made with the prize of a laptop and an authorization was extracted from the 1700 deposited in the ballot box, the lucky one being with great surprise: Jorge, student of 4th of the CEIP "Herrerias" of The Union.
But the greatest award was received by all those involved in the organization, institutions, associations and companies, the faculty and the participants that make this contest possible, by contemplating the faces of satisfaction and the smiles of happiness of the finalist students in this award ceremony.
