On Monday, April 29, the children's leaders of the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents visited the headquarters of the association Asido (Comprehensive Care for people with Down syndrome) to learn about their facilities, resources and services.
This activity organized by the Department of Social Services within the Child Friendly Cities Project (CAI) aims to promote awareness of the various associations to which the members of the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents who have children representatives of Asido associations belong. , Apanda, Ancora, Cepaim, Columbares, Murcia Acoge, Abraham Project, of the Rascasa, San Diego de Cáritas Center.
The municipal departments with representation in the Council are Education, Youth, Sports and the Department of Social Services through the Intercultural Centers and the Leisure Spaces Project.
The director of the center received the visitors, being accompanied on the tour by the social worker and various members of the psychopedagogical team.
It was attended by the representative of Asido in the Council that prepared, together with her teacher, the presentation and the tour of the facilities.
The visit began with the projection of a power point that made known to Asido Cartagena, a specialized association that offers support to the person with Down Syndrome and their families.
Then, the tour was carried out through the different dependencies of the Center, which has an Early Care service, Psychopedagogical support for educational reinforcement and an Occupational Day Center that offers training and internships in companies to promote employment.
The activity aroused great interest among the participants, and was carried out in a cordial and relaxed atmosphere.
All of them valued the experience in a very positive way, which more than covered their expectations.
Before the final farewell, the participants were given a calendar of the association, as well as a snack that put the icing on a visit prepared with love and enjoyed by all.
