This Friday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m. in the Teaching Room of the Josefina Soria del Luzzy Library, the Essay Reading Club has scheduled its second session around 'Perverted Time: Right and Left in the Century XXI '(Akal, 2018) by Esteban Hernández.
This new edition of the reading club, dedicated to the essay genre, belongs to the Network of Reading Clubs of the Municipal Libraries and has been programmed together with the Cartagena Piensa program, organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena.
In this essay, Esteban Hernández analyzes Western societies in the process of transformation.
Changes in production systems, technological developments and the growing weight of finance are added to social tensions, the emergence of new political actors and the return of geostrategy.
Hernández, political analyst of El Confidencial, publishes this new book where he tries to clarify the chaos of the present with the philosophical tactic of rethinking the concepts.
The book draws an essential map to understand the forces that are defining our epoch and understand the dimensions of the conservative turnaround undertaken.
The work contains a journey through the future that awaits us, a summary of the transformations in which we are immersed and the political orientation that animates them, as well as an advance in the consequences that they will produce.
It includes an analysis of the recomposition of power, and the resistances that are guessed.
But in addition to an x-ray of our time, it includes a proposal to distinguish the left from the right in that new environment, and the possibilities of action that open up in it.
In short, the text is a guide for the 21st century.
