Cartagena this weekend for the fourth year in a row on a large dance floor to mark the International Day of Dance.
It is celebrated all over the world, on April 29, since 1982, by UNESCO at the request of the Dance Committee of the International Theater Institute (ITI), on the occasion of the birth of Jean Georges Novere (1727), dancer and teacher considered as the creator of modern ballet.
Hundreds of people enjoyed dancing a choreography prepared in the Plaza de San Francisco, this Friday, April 26.
A flashmob (literally in English 'lightning multitude'), an act that has become habitual in Cartagena to start the acts of the International Dance Day, which will continue until May 4.
The last four years Cartagena has been celebrating with intensity this commemoration instituted by UNESCO around the world around April 29, and does so with the support of the City of Cartagena and the participation of the entire local dance sector, in a program that coordinates Margarita Amante.
This year the program has been extended from April 26 to May 4 and, in addition to this flashmob, there were other events centered on the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
On Saturday, April 27, there was a dance marathon and the Professionals Gala, in which attendees could enjoy dancers who choreographed dance styles as different as oriental dance, flamenco, contemporary dance, Latin, urban dance or Spanish dance.
The events continued on Sunday, April 28, with another dance marathon in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, in which up to 40 professionals participated who danced with their students.
On May 4, in addition to the masterclasses in the Central Pavilion, will take place in this same site, from 13:30 to 14 hours, the projection of performances of different styles by the Conservatory of Dance of Murcia.
