Among the events planned by Cartagena Piensa, program organized by the Department of Culture, to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Iris Murdoch, one of the most influential philosophers and writers of the twentieth century.
The screening is scheduled this Monday, April 29, at 7:30 pm, in the Assembly Hall of the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center, with free admission, from the multi-award winning film "Iris" (United Kingdom, 2001).
A film by Richard Eyre, with an extraordinary cast of great actors and actresses (Judi Dench, Kate Wiinslet, Jim Broadbent and Hugh Bonneville) that narrates the life of the philosopher and novelist Iris Murdoch from her youth, focusing on the love story with her husband John Bayley, his academic advances and recognized successes and, above all, his coping with Alzheimer's disease, which ended his life in the 1990s.
The film will be presented by the professor of the Area of ​​Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Murcia, María José Alcaraz.
