The Assembly Hall of the UNED in Cartagena has been the scenario for the sixth consecutive year of the continued reading of Don Quixote de la Macha.
This year the work of Cervantes has begun after completing last year the complete reading of the book.
The event, which took place this Thursday, April 25, at 10:30 am and took place throughout the day until 8:00 pm, ends the sixth edition of the continuous reading of the work published in the year 1615.
The activity, promoted with the collaboration of the City of Cartagena and framed within the World Day of Hispanic Literature, has brought together the literature of the one-armed of Lepanto and the adventures of Alonso Quijano and his squire Sancho Panza to local political and cultural authorities and regional and the staff and students of the UNED.
The reading of this classic of literature was attended by the Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García, the Councilor for Economic Strategy, Carmen Martín del Amor, together with the councilors of the municipal corporation, Manuel Padín, Pilar Marcos and José López, and the president of the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver.
Also, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, participated in the event by means of a video, reading some paragraphs of this universal work in old Castilian.
