The so-called Energy Poverty is the "situation in which a household is unable to pay a sufficient amount of energy for the satisfaction of their domestic needs and / or when it is forced to allocate an excessive part of their income to pay the energy bill of his living place.

Energy poverty affects consumers with lower economic possibilities or who meet special requirements;

either because they are families or people with scarce or insufficient incomes, dependency or disability situation, high number of members, living in housing of poorer quality or with poor living conditions that makes them more inefficient in energy terms ", among others.

To protect these consumers and help prevent situations of energy poverty, the Department of Social Services, thanks to the grant from the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia aimed at the fight against energy poverty regulated by Decree No. 154/2018, will disseminate the triptych "Savings starts at home" that contains a series of simple recommendations, but at the same time effective, with a dual purpose, on the one hand to make responsible use of the energy that contributes to reduce the consumption of electricity and water and reverts in the reduction of the cost of the receipts and on the other hand offer an information about the requirements and conditions to be a beneficiary of the so-called Social Bonus.

SOCIAL BONUS

The Social Bonus is a mechanism regulated by the Government that seeks to protect vulnerable consumers, as set out in Royal Decree 897/2017, of October 6, modified by Royal Decree-law 15/2018, of October 5, urgent measures for energy transition and consumer protection).

The triptychs will be available in the different Offices and Services of the Department of Social Services, Municipal Office for Citizen Services, Decentralization Offices (OMITAS) and Clubs for the Elderly of the Municipality.
