The City of Cartagena has informed the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS) and the Seprona the discharge that has occurred to the Escombreras rambla in the vicinity of the Repsol Factory in El Valle de Escombreras.
The City Council has asked the Seprona, the CHS and the General Directorate of Environment of the Carm to analyze the extent of the damage as well as the possible responsibilities that may arise from them.
In addition, the City will open a file from the Department of Environmental Discipline to analyze the scope of the events.
The company has managed to limit the spill in an area of ​​about 500 square meters near the factory but now the investigations of the different administrations should determine the scope and consequences that could have both at the level of ravine and the port, as well as possible responsibilities .
The City Council has been in constant communication with the Repsol managers, as well as with the management of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation.
