The City of Cartagena has presented its objectives in terms of actions to combat climate change in an act that has included a colloquium table in which the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering (ETSII) of the UPCT has participated, given the interest of the consistory in having this important university center to help define the strategies that should be promoted to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental pollution in the Municipality of Cartagena.
This event was attended by the Director of the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering (ETSII) of the UPCT, Patricio Franco, and the Academic Coordinator of the Master in Renewable Energies of the School of Industrialists, Francisco Vera.
The City Council of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the municipal technicians responsible for the main services related to the topics to be discussed have participated in this session.
Ana Belén Castejón, Mayor of the City of Cartagena, and Matías Yepes, Head of the Infrastructure Area, have inaugurated this working session dedicated to the presentation of the Action Plan for Climate and Sustainable Energy (PACES) prepared in the City of Cartagena .
Next, Francisco Victoria, Head of the Environment and Climate Change Development Service of the City of Cartagena, explained the existing challenges to combat climate change and the forecasts of sea level rise in the Municipality of Cartagena, and Eva Hernández Grau, Municipal Technical Engineer of the City of Cartagena, has explained the analysis of risks and vulnerabilities and the inventory of emissions that have been developed from the town hall.
Subsequently, a colloquium table was held in which Professor Francisco Vera has spoken on behalf of the School of Industrialists of the UPCT, and which has been directed to raise some of the measures that should be adopted in the Municipality of Cartagena in of climate change and energy.
In this discussion table, Professor Francisco Vera has stressed the importance of defining ambitious actions to combat climate change, through a comprehensive plan that covers the entire Municipality of Cartagena.
"In the School of Industrialists of the UPCT there are numerous research groups working on the different topics related to the improvement of energy efficiency and the fight against climate change, and the most demanded academic degrees are taught in order to have access to the professional profiles that allow us to work in this important field, among which is the Degree in Electrical Engineering, the Master in Renewable Energy, the Master in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Processes and other different degrees and masters ", explains Francisco Vera, Coordinator Academic of the Master in Renewable Energies of the School of Industrialists of the UPCT.
"All the degrees and masters of the Industrial School are the main qualifications that all those who wish to be trained in professional profiles related to climate change and energy efficiency must study, including not only the Degree in Electrical Energy, the Master in Renewable Energy and the Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Processes, but also the remaining degrees and master's degrees that are taught in this university center ", adds Francisco Vera.
