On Thursday, April 11 at 8:00 p.m., the 2019 Cartagenero Sports Awards were presented. The gala took place in the Isidoro Máiquez Hall of the Auditorium and El Batel Conference Center.

Family and friends of the honorees, along with representatives of the sports world of Cartagena filled the auditorium.

Among the attending authorities were the president of the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver, the government delegate, Francisco Jiménez, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the chief admiral of the Arsenal, Aniceto Rosique, the general director of Sports, Alonso Gómez and the Councilor for Sports, Manuel Mora., as well as other councilors of the Government and the Municipal Corporation.

The prizes that were awarded, chosen by a jury composed of representatives of the City Council and the media, were the following:

Best Sports Sponsor: Jimbo Fresh.

Best Base Club: Salesianos Basketball School.

Best Club of National Category: Cartagena Martial Arts Club.

Best Male Athlete: Jorge Almansa (Volleyball).

Best Female Athlete: Paula Vergara (Taekwondo).

Best Revelation Sportsman: Pablo Díaz Morales (Athlete) and Barbara Rodríguez Martín (Vela).

Best Trainer: Margarita Cabezas Hurtado (Swimming).

Best Teaching Center: CEIP Santiago Apóstol (Miranda).

Best Sports Event: XXV Ascent to the Fuente del Sapo.

Best Sports Trajectory: Daniel Sánchez Espejo (Runner).

To the best Sports Spirit: José Nicolás Uribe (Ultrafondista).

Best Research Work in Sport: Alfonso Martínez Moreno (Faculty of Sports Science (UMU)).

Special mentions: Football Association of Cartagena and Region (AFCT), Sport Club Primi Sport, Julián García Maldonado posthumously (Montañero), Winds of Cartagena-Dragon Boat, Ángel Gómez Sánchez (Runner), Sport in the Rural Areas Trails of the West Zone (VIII Duathlon Cross Mills Marfagones, VI Burro Trail of Perin, VIII Popular Race La Azohía-Isla Plana).

The gala was broadcast live on the YouTube news channel of the City of Cartagena.
