The festival, organized by the City of Cartagena, celebrates a quarter of a century in a very special edition, being the first that has not been programmed by its creator, who passed away last August, Paco Martín, very present during the presentation of the programming this Thursday, April 11, at El Batel.
The act has run hand in hand with the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture and Tourism, David Martínez, accompanied by the co-director of La Mar de Músicas, José Luis Cegarra, and the general secretary of the Ministry, as well as event organizers and sponsors.
In addition, it has culminated with the performance of the local group La Tribu29, present for the first time at the festival.
The presentation will continue during the night starting at 9:00 pm in the Patio del Antiguo CIM with the performance of Karmacadabra and the session of the DJ Lacroix with free admission.
With 14 bands invited from the neighboring country, Portugal, La Mar de Músicas, will make an eclectic tour around the world with a total of 43 groups that will perform from July 19 to 27, including Kamasi Washington, Ólafur Arnalds, Salif Keita, Amaia , Snarky Puppy and Toquinho with Silvia Pérez Cruz.
It will begin with the only concert in Spain by Elza Soares, spectacular voice of Brazil, and will culminate with a night dedicated to the saga of the Morentes with the performance of the three sons of Enrique Morente: Kike, Estrella and Soleá.
It will be next month when the parallel activities to the musical performances of cinema, art and literature will be announced to complete the biggest cultural disembarkation that has been made in our country of Portugal, which will help to know a little more about our neighboring country. .
The poster of this 25th edition, has been made by the artist Joana Vasconcelos, focused on reflecting the tradition of Portugal, but also its modernity, represented in the festival with the two largest fado representatives of the country such as Mariza and Ana Moura, but Carolina will also perform with Raül Refree.
Among the Portuguese artists are also António Zambujo, Luisa Sobral, the pianist Rui Massena and the cult band Dead Combo, as well as the revelation artist and Eurovision representative, Conan Osíris, and the actress and singer María de Medeiros accompanied by the guitarist Legendary Tigerman.
From Lisbon, great mixed capital, they will offer their concerts Pongo, Mayra Andrade, Dino D'Santigo, Banko and Fumaça Preta.
For its part, Spain will continue to have great representation at the festival with Amaia, Los Hermanos Cubero, Niño de Elche, Lorena Álvarez and Silvia Pérez Cruz accompanied by Toquinho and Javier Colina.
Coming from South America, the festival will feature Mon Laferte, the Akokán Orchestra, Miss Bolivia, Pascuala Ilabaca and the Trending Topics group.
Marlon Williams was the strong bet of Paco Martín last year, who finally could not attend, so, as a tribute, the artist will be present this year on the first day.
Three great representatives of jazz such as Kamasi Washington, Snarky Puppy and Mulatu Astatke are also part of the program, along with artists from Africa such as Fra !, Kyekyeku & Ghanalogue Highlife and Salif Keita, to Iceland as Ólafur Arnalds or Romania with Farfare Ciocarlia, Istanbul with Gaye Su Akyol passing, of course, through our Region of Murcia, with the bands Rio Viré, Moody Sake, La Tribu29, Mavica and Claim.
