Cartagena becomes for the fourth consecutive year a large dance floor to mark the International Day of Dance.
It is celebrated all over the world on April 29 since 1982, by UNESCO at the request of the Dance Committee of the International Theater Institute (ITI), on the occasion of the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727), dancer and teacher considered as the creator of modern ballet.
The hall of the Consistorial Palace of Cartagena has hosted on April 10 the presentation of the activities that will be carried out in the city, from April 29 to May 4.
The program has been organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena, the Performing Arts Platform of Cartagena and coordinated by Margarita Amante.
Under the motto 'Dance and Spirituality', the councilman of Culture, David Martinez, has invited Cartagena to come to all the activities that are going to be held in the city.
In addition, he has paraphrased the President of the International Dance Council, Alkis Raftis, by noting that "when dancing, people sometimes transcend the realm of the supernatural;
Music and movement combine body and mind towards an elevated state.
This static experience releases, it extends very deeply into one's inner dimension, uniting the person with the universe. "
Since then, every year the ITI together with the World Dance Alliance, commissions a message to an outstanding personality of the world of dance.
The chosen of 2019 is Karima Mansour, dancer, choreographer and educator of Egypt.
The dance teacher, Margarita Amante, and the president of the Performing Arts Platform of Cartagena, Lito Campillo, were in charge of reading the manifesto for the International Day of Dance and highlighted that "movement and dance is the space in which we are able to create our own realities and fleeting, ephemeral moments, one after the other.
That they can remain in our memories, to inspire and change us (us and others), for life.
That is the power of true expression and therefore the power of dance. "
The pair of dancers, Alfonso and Mónica, have demonstrated their artistic skills dancing with Latin rhythm in the hall after the presentation of the program.
