The series of encounters with the finalist authors this special edition of the graphic novel of the Mandarache Prize 2019 comes to an end with the cartoonist and comic author, Paco Roca, who has presented his book in the board room of the UPCT for, afterwards, meet for the first time before more than 600 students in the auditorium of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
This has been the first of the meetings that the author will have, one of the most important figures of the comic at a national level, throughout the municipality during this Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday day 10 where he will meet with high school students, but He will also have a meeting open to the public, to talk about his work 'The furrows of Chance'.
The presentation of the book with the author prior to the first meeting with students has been by the Councilor for Culture, David Martinez, along with one of the members of the Promoter Group of the award, Pencho López, who has been working the work with his students and that, says that this edition of graphic novel this year is working very well among students.
The councilor says that "Paco is one of the most prestigious cartoonists in our country and his presence means a spectacular closing for this edition."
For his part, the artist has been very grateful to the program, says it is an honor that the contest has decided to include the graphic novel and give it the importance it has as a visual language, "as a narrative that has an even longer history that the literary one with the hieroglyphics and a narrative tradition from the Prehistory, affirms.
"The best possible reward is that you can talk to the readers in the way they have organized it in these meetings," says the author, who has never had an opportunity like this before.
At the end of the month will be when around 3,700 readers enrolled in the Mandarache Awards will vote for its winner, the largest edition to date and remains the world's largest jury in a literary prize.
It will be May 8 when the awards ceremony to the winners will be held in the El Batel Auditorium and Conference Center, which will be attended by almost 1,500 students.
