The cycle of encounters with the finalist authors of the Mandarache 2019 Prize closes with the visit of the famous comic artist and author Paco Roca, who will participate in Cartagena on April 9 and 10 in the traditional meetings with students enrolled in the program and who make up the massive jury of this award.
After the visit of Rayco Pulido, Isaac Rosa and Mikko, Paco Roca will present and defend to the readers the work with which he was selected by the Group Promoter of the project: The furrows of chance (Astiberri, 2013), which has already reported important prizes such as the Zona Cómic Award for the best national comic of 2013, the Romics Grand Prize (Rome, 2014), the Prize for the best Spanish author's work at the Barcelona International Comic Fair 2014 and the 2014 Critic's Award for the best work and the best national screenwriter.
In addition to the meetings with students that will take place over the two days, Paco Roca will hold a meeting open to the general public, as is customary for all the Mandarache finalists, which will take place on April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Cajamurcia Foundation.
After the passage of Paco Roca, the Mandarache and Hache Awards enter the so-called deliberation period prior to the official votes that will take place from April 22 to 25, where the almost 6,000 readers who make up the jury will evaluate the finalist novels and decide on the winners with their vote through the project website, www.premiomandarache.es.
The official announcement of the winners, which will be carried out by a group of IES students Juan Sebastián Elcano, will take place on April 26 at 11 am at the Town Hall.
