Cartagena became this Saturday, April 6, a great track of atlestismo.

Three thousand eight hundred runners, the majority not dedicated to the world of the atlestismo, participated in the tenth edition of the Route of the Strengths.

A sports event that has become a regional and national benchmark, organized by the Navy and the Cartagena City Council and which covers 54 km of mountains in the city.

At around 8 am, the solemn raising of Bandera took place on the esplanade of the Alfonso XII pier of the Port of Cartagena, which marked the start of the sporting event.

The event was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the mayor of Sports of the City of Cartagena, Manuel Mora, the Admiral of Maritime Action, Vice Admiral Juan Luis Sobrino Pérez-Crespo, and other civil and military authorities.

After the hoisting, from the same place, the exit signal for the 3,800 participants in this civic-military sports competition was given.

The pre-registration for the test was carried out by 7,587 people (5,821 men and 1,766 women).

This year for the third time, there have been runners from other countries and almost all provinces nationwide, with the number of participants in the provinces of Murcia, Alicante, Madrid, Cádiz and Almería.

As already reported in the presentation of this edition, the tour increased by one kilometer, as the participants passed through the Cartagena Military Arsenal in recognition of the involvement of the Navy and on the occasion of the celebration of the 10th anniversary, they were able to see their I pass the fleet of submarines.

The fall of Sierra Gorda was also modified to avoid agglomerations.

A 12-hour test, which was the fastest edition in history.

Twenty-one men made the layout by castles and fortresses of the city in less than five hours, while twelve women completed it in six hours.

Among the winners of the men's category, José Antonio Agüera triumphed in the tenth edition, with a mark of 04:07:10.

The podium was completed by the union Francisco José Díaz Pozo (04:08:37), and the winner of the previous edition, Ramón Alberto Navarro Cánovas (04:18:20).

Within the winners of the female category, Irma Lorena Duchi Gómez triumphed in this sporting event, with a mark of 05:00:59.

The second place was for the Albacatese Raquel Padilla Dominguez (05:04:34) and the third, for the totanera Lourdes Heredia Lopez (05:14:29).

Among the winners of the youth category, Carlos Barbosa and Ana Boj were the winners of the Route of the Strengths.

Together with them they climbed to the podium, Martín Campillo Soria, Adrián Díaz García, Andrea Gómez and Victoria Vélez Calatayud.

Approximately 200 minor athletes participated in the 14 km route.

On the eve of the race, participants were able to pick up their race number from 11 a.m. in Heroes de Cavite square until 9:00 p.m., where there were numerous sports equipment stands and charity stands.

From there, on Friday, March 6, the children's test also came out, at 6:30 p.m., and the subsequent delivery of trophies, as well as the Flag Arriado at sunset, at 8:38 p.m.

In the prebenjamín category, both male and female, the winners were Adriana Martínez-Losa and Pablo López Mercander.

In the category benjamin, Jimena Hernández and Hugo Ayala, while in the alevín, Eva María Sánchez Castro and Simón Guasp Heredia.

ASSISTANCE TO THE RUNNER

Approximately more than 800 people trained the support personnel of the test, composed mostly of military personnel, in particular 540 people, and by emergency personnel, health personnel and volunteers from the universities of the Region, as well as from the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and podiatrists, other 315 in total.

Support for the runner and his health care continues to be the main element during the tour.

On Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, in the delivery of the bib number, bags with basic elements for the broker were delivered as complete as possible.

There was also bus transportation to the finish area, a total of 9 refreshments during the tour, health posts, showers and even psychological support on the eve of the test.

For emergency assistance, there were two field hospitals, 12 health posts, means of off-road evacuation, a helicopter, as well as teams of ambulances and rescuers and volunteers of Fire and Civil Protection of Cartagena, and Red Cross.

In total almost 170 people dedicated exclusively to ensure the safety of all participants.

Healthcare completed the emergencies with an increase in volunteers who, along with both civilian and Navy professionals, accounted for another 140 people.
