Citizens have reported that they want to promote activities and therapies with animals in Cartagena both in Senior Centers, as well as in special education centers and in which people with disabilities are working.
In Animal Assisted Intervention (IAA), an animal is incorporated as part of the treatment with the purpose of promoting an improvement in physical, social, emotional or cognitive aspects;
these actions are always directed and supervised by health and education professionals.
"We have studied some programs promoted by the local Administration in other municipalities and we are really excited to bring to Cartagena what we have found", explained the spokesman of the Liberal Party that has visited the facilities that the Thrive Foundation has in the Los Garcías de Miranda along with the mayor Ana Rama and the vocal of Cs in Miranda, José Francisco García;
about 11,000 square meters, which are located the stables, racetracks and dog tracks, riding schools, and a multi-purpose room for conducting school workshops, "to know this world firsthand and prepare our proposal with knowledge of cause and with the experience of professionals who have been doing this work for years ".
The Liberal spokesman considers it important to clarify that "in no case are we talking about replacing clinical therapies without enriching them with an added supplement documented, but unfortunately remains little known today."
As for the therapies, it is fully demonstrated that they promote and accelerate the beneficial effects of the treatments in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology or speech therapy.
The founder and president of the Foundation explained what his latest projects have been, such as the one carried out in the Open Classroom of the CEIP Virgen del Carmen in Cartagena, or the one that has been set up with the collaboration of the Obra Social of La Caixa and the City Council of San Javier in some educational centers of that municipality.
For Manuel Padín it is "simply overwhelming" the number of reasons that drive us to develop such a program in Cartagena, "only the love and support that animals can offer to the elderly who are alone, assistance for those who live together with a disability, or the promotion of values of respect associated with the relationship with animals are more than enough reasons for our Municipal Group. "
Fundación Tiovivo was established on March 9, 2005 and has a long history of collaboration with groups and associations throughout the Region of Murcia.
Among its objectives is personal development, quality of life and social integration of people with disabilities with the inclusion of animals (horses and dogs) in a natural environment.
This entity has the corresponding authorizations from the Community as a Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities and Volunteer Service.
