The young unicorns who remained undefeated this season, were mathematically proclaimed league champions last Sunday, March 31, despite falling 35-22 to XV Murcia, in the Monte Romero stadium of the Espinardo Campus.
There were several possibilities that gave the championship to the Cartagena, victory, draw, defeat without offensive bonus of the opposing team, with offensive and / or defensive bonus of the CRUC or by an unfavorable score less than 14 points of difference, was obtained offensive bonus ( 4 or more tests) and was lost by 13 points, thus achieving, deservedly, the objective.
The game, with rain, mud and the title in play, had all the ingredients for an exciting game and at times epic.
Although the Cartagena were ahead on the scoreboard, the Murcian team rallied and was ahead on the scoreboard the rest of the game, at no time was the lost title, but locals lurked with it and the excitement remained until the final leg of the match, when the Cartagena team achieved the fourth trial with the consequent offensive bonus that gave them the title whatever happened in the remaining minutes.
Intensity, good rugby and sportsmanship could sum up the clash between the two best teams in the league.
With the achievement of the title the CRUC sub-18 revalidates the title obtained in the last campaign.
For the CRU Cartagena played at the start: Borja, Diego Diaz, Diego Juan, Salva, Jon, Adrián, Gonzalo, Sergio (1 conversion, 2 points), Esteban (1 trial, 5 points), Promise (1 trial, 5 points) , Daniel, Diego García and Nacho (2 essays, 10 points).
Later they entered: Parrón, Jack and Edu.
They were not available to play: Pedro and Germán.
