Is general electricity easy with fruits and vegetables?
Is it viable to carry out a crop in a bottle of water?
Can we reduce the brines coming from the irrigation water?
These are some of the questions that the 200 high school students of the Region can solve through the agri-food teaching itineraries, which end this Friday at the Tomás Ferro farm of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
The itineraries allow students to observe a model of sustainable agriculture, respectful of the environment, says the director of the farm, Eva Armero, Animal Production Area of ​​the UPCT.
In total, eight institutes participate in the workshops and agrifood dissemination experiments programmed for this edition.
One of the objectives of this initiative, promoted by the School of Agronomists of the UPCT and supported by the General Direction of Attention to the Diversity and Educational Quality of the Region of Murcia and the Seneca Foundation, is to promote the scientific vocations of the agri-food sector.
Today, students from Lorca, Águilas, Molina de Segura and Alcantarilla will participate in workshops that also include activities related to the management of agroclimatic sensors, the recovery of the Murcian hen, the use of insects in agriculture.
In addition, students perform a microbiological analysis of food.
Last Friday, the first day of the agri-food routes, students from Yecla, Puerto Lumbreras, Lorca and Cartagena visited the UPCT.
In this activity, which takes place since 2010, a dozen professors and researchers of the School of Agronomists participate.
