The municipal complex of Playa Paraíso celebrates the II edition of the Volleyball Circuit UPCT that will take place during April, May and June and which aims to publicize and promote this sport as well as the activities and tournaments that are being held both in summer and throughout the year.
The Councilor for Sports, Manuel Mora, was commissioned to present the tournament on Thursday, April 4, in the press room of the Palace Hall accompanied by the director of the circuit and coach of the School of Beach Volleyball Paradise, Javier Meca , along with the representative of the Sports Promotion Service of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Ricardo Ibáñez.
Around the school of Paradise Beach have met a hundred students that is growing progressively and this tournament is a bet for the deseasonalization of sport, considered a summer practice.
"It is a project related to the objectives of the Department of Sports to unite sport, health, tourism and provide the coast with the practice of sports that keep it alive throughout the year," says the council.
After the success of the first edition last year, it was organized for the second time with participants from both the municipality and from outside, once again completing the registration places.
It will consist of three tests that will be carried out during the three months of April, May and June.
Each of these tests will run for two days, Saturday and Sunday.
On the other hand, on Saturdays the male and female categories will be played, while on Sundays, the mixed category.
Both days, the reception of the players in the municipal complex of Playa Paraíso will be at 8.45 in the morning when they will be given the equipment and supplies, to proceed to a technical talk prior to the start of the tests, which will start the 9.15.
In the mornings, the group stage will be held until 2.30 p.m., when there will be a break and paella will be served to the participants until 4:00 p.m., which will start the elimination phase where the winners of each day will be decided.
The April test will start this weekend, on April 6 and 7, the second test will be on May 4 and 5 and, finally, on the last weekend on June 8 and 9.
Depending on the final classification, the participants will accumulate points in the general classification, so, each daily test will have some winners and, it will be in the third test in June, when the general winners of the circuit will be decided which will be the ones with the most points. added in the three tests.
The Department of Sports is working together with the UPCT and Sports Club La Manga, organizers of this project, in the installation of fields of fixed-line volleyball to encourage practice on the beaches of our coast, enjoying sunshine and good weather throughout the year.
Thus, the two tracks of the Playa Paraíso complex are being adapted for the celebration of this tournament in order to continue promoting it every year and to become a benchmark at the regional level.
This action also serves as a claim for sports tourism and players from other neighboring communities come to our area to practice this sport in non-summer times.
