The students of the formative photography cycles of Orihuela and Almeria coexisted this Monday and Tuesday last, days 1 and 2 of April, with the neighbors of the districts of the Mateos and Santa Lucia and of the Barriada de Virgen de la Caridad, with motive of one of the actions prepared for the program of invited neighborhoods of its next edition, the project 'Con-Vivencias', included in the festival Much More May.
Up to 15 students lived and photographed the daily life of the residents of both neighborhoods in Cartagena in collaboration with different associations, groups and NGOs that develop their activity in the streets of these neighborhoods.
Thus, they photographed the cultural activity of the neighborhood thanks to the collaboration of associations such as RASCASA, Pinacho or the Association of Cornets and Drums.
In the Barriada Virgen de la Caridad, in addition, NGOs such as Project Abraham or ACCEM facilitated that the students come into contact with different groups of inhabitants of the neighborhood, being able to capture moments such as the sewing workshops offered by the Neighborhood Association.
In addition, thanks to the Fishermen's Guild, in the Santa Lucía neighborhood, they were able to photograph a day of work that is the most important economic activity for the neighbors.
This action supposes the first part of one of the actions programmed for the invited neighborhoods of this tenth edition of the Festival Much More May, that will be celebrated between the days 10 and 21 of May of 2019. Together with the resulting photographs of this coexistence, during On the days of the festival, photographs will be exhibited by residents of the neighborhoods, to whom the organization has provided disposable cameras and quick notions of photography.
In this way, it will be possible to understand the coexistence between the different identities that make up the neighborhood, since this next edition of the festival will focus on migrations, hospitality as a concept in crisis, and borders, with the convening as motto: "The face of the other.
Art and hospitality. "
The facilities, projects and different actions of the festival will take place in the Historic District of Cartagena, and on this occasion all the neighborhoods that have passed as guests of the past editions of the festival will be invited.
The Mucho Más Mayo Festival is the only festival of contemporary art held in the region of Murcia and was recovered by the City of Cartagena in 2015, after four years of suspension.
