On Saturday, March 30, Earth Hour is celebrated.
From 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, buildings around the world will turn off their lights.
The City of Cartagena has joined this initiative and will do so by turning off during that hour the ornamental lighting of the Palace Hall to claim a message of action in the fight against climate change and in favor of nature.
Earth Hour is a WWF initiative that began in Sydney in 2007 as a symbolic gesture to draw attention to Earth's environmental problems.
For 12 years, thousands of cities in 188 countries have already joined this movement.
More than 17,000 monuments have been extinguished to claim the fight against climate change.
In addition, the WWF proposes several challenges to accompany the switching off of lights in houses and buildings: #inplastic challenges, #incarnationsincarne and #displayings.
Since the organization of Earth Hour, citizens are encouraged not to use single-use plastic products.
It is also intended to spend a whole day without consuming meat.
In addition, the WWF wants that on Saturday, March 30, no carbon dioxide will be released into the atmosphere.
