The city of Cartagena, along with the cities of Lorca, Murcia and the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, participated last week in the 5th Meeting of Spanish Cultural Cities organized by the Spanish Office of Tourism in the Netherlands.
The Spanish cities that were in the event were Mallorca, Bilbao, Córdoba, Catalan cities with charm, Tarragona and Benidorm.
The meeting, which took place in the city of The Hague, welcomed a hundred professionals from the sector.
The promotional action had a first part that was aimed at presenting the destinations and meetings with the representatives of each city with specialized press.
The working day continued with the second shift for travel agents, with the same presentation format and meetings by destinations.
Represented by Cartagena Port of Cultures, Cartagena highlighted the great importance of the archaeological and monumental legacy of the city as a result of its millenary history, praising the Punic and Roman antiquity, the military architecture of the XVIII and modernism.
Those attending the event were impressed by the varied and wide range of museums and cultural activities such as the Carthaginian and Roman Festivals and Holy Week, declared of International Tourist Interest;
Carnival and the La Mar de Músicas festival, showing that the city has a varied offer all year round.
Besides enhancing the historical-cultural value, other attractions were emphasized, such as gastronomy, good weather and the wide range of nautical activities in the Mar Menor.
