The usual timetable for entering the UPCT classes is at 9:00 in the morning, and at 3:00 in the afternoon, and the buses are far from being suitable for these schedules.
In order for the students who live in the area of Fuente Álamo to arrive on time for their morning and afternoon classes, they must take the ALSA bus from Line 31 that stops at Fuente Álamo at 6:45 and at 12.45 h respectively.
Those who have morning shifts should get up at 5.45, or earlier if they live in nearby towns.
Those in the afternoon shift should prepare at 11.45.
In both cases they have to wait an hour and a half since they arrive in Cartagena and begin their classes.
For Pilar Marcos, councilor and mayoral candidate for Podemos Cartagena, "public transport must fulfill a social function and serve people, and more for young people who have to use it to go to their study centers, whether university or Vocational Training Institutes "
That is why CTSSP-PODEMOS is going to request in the Plenary on Thursday that the company ALSA be urged to make the necessary modifications in the schedule of the buses on line 31 (Lorca-Cartagena), so that the bus stops at Fuente Poplar at 8:15, do it at 8:00 and in this way students can arrive on time at 9:00 am classes.
And in the afternoon, overtake the bus from 2:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., so they can get to classes that start at 3:00 p.m.
