On Thursday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center, the inauguration of the exhibition on the 50th anniversary of IES Isaac Peral took place.
The one in charge was the Councilor for Education, Mercedes García.
Visitors could see school documents and photographs of the 50th anniversary of the current facilities and the 150th anniversary of Secondary Education in Cartagena.
The exhibition begins with the first institute of Cartagena, which emerged in 1869, under the name of Municipal Institute of 2nd Teaching.
Said center was in the headquarters of the school La Purísima Concepción, in San Miguel street.
After being abolished in 1874, in 1913, the General and Technical Institute of Cartagena, located on Calle del Aire, emerged.
After economic problems disappears the institution.
In 1927 the Institute of 2nd Teaching was inaugurated, in the old Lonja and headquarters of the Graduate Schools, located in the Juan XXIII square.
After a tour of the Secondary School in Cartagena, the exhibition addresses the birth of Isaac Peral in 1951 when he changed his name after being called Instituto Nacional de Enseñanza Media.
It is in 1968 when it is called the center located on Paseo Alfonso XIII, Instituto Isaac Peral, as it is known today.
The exhibition, designed and prepared by Professor Carmen Verdú, is free and may be visited until May 17, at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.
