The businessmen Ginés Huertas Suanzes, Tomás Martínez Pagán, and the director of the Refinery of Cartagena, Joaquín García-Estañ have taken possession today as members of the Social Council of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
The act took place in the Rectorate building.
The new members have been appointed in representation of the socioeconomic interests of the Region of Murcia.
Ginés Huertas, from the Huertas Automoción Group and Joaquín García-Estañ, form part of the Social Council by appointment of the COEC (Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Cartagena).
The vocal Tomás Martínez Pagán has been appointed by the Government Council of the CARM (Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia).
The Social Council is the organ of participation of the society in the management and supervision of the University.
This collegial body, chaired by the businessman and economist, Eugenio Galdón Brugarolas, is composed of representatives of the university community and socio-economic representatives representing the Regional Assembly of Murcia, trade unions, business organizations, Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena, Cartagena City Council and the CARM Government Council.
The inauguration was attended by the rector of the UPCT, Alejandro Díaz and the counselor for Employment, Universities, Business and the Environment, Javier Celdrán.
