This Wednesday, and on the occasion of the International Day of Down Syndrome that is celebrated on March 21, took place the awards of the IV edition of the School and Drawing Contest organized by ASIDO Cartagena.
This year a total of 1003 students from the 9 educational centers Narval, Salesianos, Mare Nostrum, Carthago, Aníbal, Alfonso X, Fernando Garrido, Pablo Neruda and Virgen del Carmen participated.
The aim of the studies was to capture and raise awareness of the knowledge that the youngest children have about Down Syndrome.
The act, which took place in the Aula Fundación de la CAM, was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, accompanied by the Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García, who was also part of the jury, also composed of relatives and young people affected by the syndrome, as well as by the Responsible for Communication of Full Inclusion of the Region, Juanjo Muñoz, and by the Defense Systems Engineer and writer Serafin Piñeiro, also in charge of announcing the winners, to whom ASIDO students presented the award .
In the category of Drawing the classification was thus:
First Prize: Daniela García Serrano, 2nd year of Primary School, Narval School Center of Cartagena
Second Prize: Celia Canovas Aznar, 3rd year of the Pablo Neruda School Center in Balsapintada
Writing Category:
First Prize: Gisela Suarez Peréz, 5th grade of the Pablo Neruda School Center in Balsapintada
Second Prize: Carolina Navarro Vivancos, 5th grade of the school Fernando Garrido de Cartagena
After the event, attendees could enjoy a small cocktail at the Casino on Calle Mayor.
