Sixteen research projects of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) will receive 603,085.00 € from the Seneca Foundation-Agency of Science and Technology Region of Murcia in three years through the call for aid for scientific and technical research projects.
This call will allow to deepen research for remote sensing of extreme events in the ravine of El Albujón;
deepen the seismic response of buildings cataloged as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), such as the tower of the cathedral of Murcia;
the impact of industry 4.0 or the early diagnosis of glaucoma using Deep Learning techniques.
"The projects led by the UPCT have a great multidisciplinary character, most of them provide a technological approach to various areas such as seismology, medicine, soil phytoremediation, data processing and images.
They demonstrate the great potential of our researchers ", highlights the Vice-Rector for Research, Beatriz Miguel.
The five projects that receive the most funding are led by Raúl Zornoza, researcher Ramón y Cajal, who earns 70,587 euros to research the "Use of assisted phytostabilization to facilitate the production of aromatic waste in mining as a strategy of environmental and socioeconomic rehabilitation."
Antonio Jesús Fernández, researcher in the area of ​​Physical Chemistry, receives 63,440 euros for his research on "Synthesis of new electrodes based on carbon nanostructure inks by automated printing.
Application as catalytic electrodes for the reduction and / or evolution of oxygen in metal / air batteries ".
The project led by Francisco Artés Hernández, from the area of ​​Food Technology, "Development and minimum processing of fresh germinated high health through eco-sustainable techniques.
Evolution of quality and safety during the useful life ", receives 58,085 euros.
Eva Armero, Animal Production, gets 55,360 euros to develop the project "Improving the competitiveness of the croaker sector through genetic selection."
Prayers 45,050 euros has achieved the project Geometry and construction in stonework stone in the Roman and high medieval.
Analysis of unique stones in the Mediterranean world ", led by José Calvo, from the area of ​​Civil Engineering and Architecture.
The projects that have the help of this year's call belong to ten areas of knowledge.
Among them: Electronic and communications technology, Earth Sciences, Materials Science and Technology, Law or Mathematics, among others.
Researchers teach in almost all UPCT centers.
