The Regional Contest of Classical Music for Young Performers "Between Strings and Metals", organized by the Department of Youth of the City of Cartagena and the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, begins its auditions this next Wednesday, March 20.
This year celebrates its twenty-second edition and will have the representation of students from all the conservatories of the Region of Murcia such as: Music Conservatory of Cartagena, Murcia, Lorca, Molina de Segura, Caravaca, Cieza, San Javier and Jumilla, all and each of them with a huge talent, which we can enjoy since the auditions of the contest are open doors for anyone who wants to attend the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena.
Of the 10 modalities summoned, the following will be made: ROPE, PIANO, WOOD WIND, METAL WIND, PERCUSSION, FLAMENCO GUITAR and CHAMBER MUSIC;
not taking place the GUITAR, CANTE FLAMENCO and CANTO, for not reaching the minimum of 12 applications in each of them, as stipulated in the rules of the competition in this edition.
Last January, the contest exceeded their expectations regarding entries received, 201 being submitted.
In Cuerda, 23 applications were submitted;
Piano, 17;
Wind Wood, 55;
Wind Metal, 21;
Percussion, 16;
Flamenco Guitar, 14 and Chamber Music, 11 groups, totaling 37 components in this modality.
Taking into account also as specified in the rules of the contest, that having exceeded the 30 applications in the modality of Wind Wood, proceeds to select, through the study of the academic records, the contestants who will participate in this modality in the XXII edition, meeting the list published on the website of the contest: https://juventud.cartagena.es/gestion/documentos/32033.pdf
The contest consists of two phases, one eliminatory and another final taking place during the months of March and April, in the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena.

DELIVERY OF AWARDS AND CLOSURE CONCERT
The Awards Ceremony and the Closing Concert will be held on May 17 at 20:00 in the Batel Auditorium and Conference Center, where the jury's verdict will be announced in each of the contest modalities.
It will feature the performance of the winning group in Chamber Music of the last edition of Entre Cuerdas y Metales: the wind quintet "Scherzo", composed by: María Conesa Vidal (clarinet), Ana Ros Hernández (transverse flute), Pablo Bernal Pozo (oboe), Javier García Bas (bassoon), Paula Cerdán Brau (horn).
In the Closing we will be a novelty this year, at the head of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, which will be responsible for closing the Closing Ceremony, with a Guest Director - former winner of the contest between strings and metals in its sixth edition - Isabel María Rubio Molina.
