The municipal groups of MC Cartagena and Cartagena Sí Se Puede (CTSSP) have registered, this morning, the request for an extraordinary plenary session on the arrival of high speed to the municipality.
The councilors of MC and CTSSP have had the support of the Pro Soterramiento Platform, represented by its spokesperson, Fulgencio Sánchez.
Both formations will urge the municipal Plenary to reject the agreement of the Board of Directors of 'Cartagena Alta Velocidad SA' on February 22, 2019, considering it unsustainable in urban planning, since it limits the development and the structuring of the municipality, by maintaining a layout that marginalizes the inhabitants of neighborhoods and councils, generating insecurity with the traffic of merchandise.
"Of this Plenary the Cartagena will have the clear picture of those who listen and comply with what the neighbors want and who violate the will of the neighbors," said municipal spokesman MC, José López.
Likewise, the opposition to this agreement is also based on the fact that it is contrary to the development of the Los Camachos ZAL, which is economically damaging for the Cartagena population, since it forces the residents of our municipality to pay 25% of the Arterial Network. Railway, compared to 8% of the municipality of Murcia, without articulating the formula to pay the rest of the burial that is promised and, moreover, is contrary to the unanimous agreement of the Plenary of June 7, 2018.
The agreement of Cartagena High Speed ​​contemplates that the current layout be maintained, with the intention of burying 800 meters and a commitment, future and uncertain, of burying up to 3.3 km.
In this way, the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, violates the unanimous agreement of the Plenary, consummating a new deception to the inhabitants of the municipality.
In this context, MC and CTSSP have agreed to promote the holding of this Plenary to confirm the agreement of June 7, 2018, which contains an institutional declaration on the arrival of high speed and its integration in the municipality, because those responsible municipal and autonomic (PP and PSOE) have betrayed the Cartagena, breaching the agreement and violating the confidence that neighbors had deposited in them.

José López has pointed out that "the Cartagena society demands from its political representatives a solution to railway integration in the municipality that is proper of the 21st century".
The cartagenerista leader has remembered that "this legislature began to give answer to this demand making clear that the railroad must arrive at the station of the place of Mexico, betting by the intermodalidad".
The institutional declaration of the Plenary on the arrival of high speed and its integration in the municipality, agreed on June 7, 2018, claims the Cartagena High Speed ​​society, among other issues, that the remodeling of the railway arterial network of the municipality of Cartagena does not create walls that divide the municipality in two or strangle the growth of the city and its neighborhoods and councils;
that level crossings are eliminated;
that the railway line does not cross any population nucleus;
that bet on intermodality;
to ensure that access to the city is made in the east, as well as the possibility of rail access to the future ZAL of Los Camachos, the connection with the industrial zone of the Escombreras Valley and the construction of a variant to the urban core of Alumbres to avoid the current passage of dangerous goods and the unfolding of the lines of passengers and goods from Beniel to Cartagena due to the current traffic and to which it is planned.
