The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) will research and disseminate knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is included in the 2030 Agenda. The Rector, Alejandro Díaz, has signed a collaboration protocol with the Presidential Adviser, Pedro Rivera, to through which both institutions commit to collaborate in actions of study, research, dissemination and dissemination of knowledge about the 2030 Agenda.
In this regard, at the last Governing Council, the Rector said, it was approved to implement the 2030 Agenda at the University and start working on the preparation of a short-term plan to disseminate among the university community what the Objectives are. of Sustainable Development and inform them about the 2030 Agenda. This plan, the Rector pointed out, will be developed during the 2019/2020 academic year.
Also, Díaz Morcillo has indicated that the Governing Council also approved the development of a 2030 strategy, which will define the actions that the University must carry out from 2020 to 2030.
Through the agreement signed between the UPCT and the Community, both institutions are committed to work together to "achieve union with the development of the Agenda 2030", assured the Rector.
For his part, the Minister of the Presidency, Pedro Rivera, explained that the objective of the agreement is in the line of actions of knowledge transfer, dissemination and awareness.
"The UPCT does a great job of dissemination," he said, stressing that the UPCT speaks of sustainable development, water and sanitation, poverty eradication.
"There are objectives that we can develop jointly," he said before adding that the Government is finalizing a regional strategy to prepare an action plan, which will be exposed to a participation process starting in April, and has invited the UPCT to participate in the process.
