The Auditorium and Conference Center El Batel de Cartagena will host this Thursday, March 14, at 9:00 p.m., the opera 'Madama Butterfly'.
From the hand of the orchestra and the soloists of Opera 2001, this lyrical drama comes in three acts with a libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica.
In addition, they will be accompanied by the Hirosaki Choirs (Japan).
In 'Madama Butterfly' we will learn the story of FB Pinkerton, an officer of the US Navy, and Cio-Cio-San, a young geisha named Butterfly, who after meeting aboard the ship USS Abraham Lincoln in Nagasaki fell in love and they marry.
When he has to return to the United States, she waits for him for three years, although family and friends tell him that he will not return.
At that time she raised her son alone, which was born after Pinkerton left.
At the end of three years, Pinkerton finally returns, and with him his new and legitimate American wife Kate.
They come to pick up the child to raise it in the United States, that's when a catastrophe takes place ...
