The Visitors Center of the Escombreras Valley refinery hosts the activities until March 15.
This week have passed through the industrial complex fifty students of primary and secondary.
A score of schools in Cartagena will participate this year in the workshops of Aprendergía;
a Fundación Repsol project that was born with the aim of bringing the world of energy closer to the youngest and making them reflect on the challenges of the future.
The activities are designed and adapted to the school curriculum of 6th grade and 3rd grade students.
In addition, they are guided by specialized educators.
With the "Game of the challenge of the energy mix of Villaenergía", the youngest ones have the mission of getting the energy that this imaginary city needs to function.
High school students test their creativity and ability to work as a team with the "Challenge of the countries' energy mix", in which participants assume different roles and become energy managers of a country, with the objective of to design the most sustainable energy model, taking into account the different sources of primary energy, the availability of resources and CO2 emissions.
With these games, they discover more about the different sources of energy, understand the transformation processes and discover the value and importance of all energies for a viable and sustainable energy transition.
In both cases, both primary and secondary students, before they start, will test their knowledge on energy and sustainability in the "Gymkhana of energy".
These workshops are part of the activities of Aprendenergía, aimed at divulging issues about energy among the youngest, their future challenges and how to make a more responsible use of energy resources to achieve a more sustainable world.
The activities, which began on Monday and will last until March 15, take place at the facilities of the Repsol refinery in Cartagena, are complemented by a guided tour of the visitor center of the industrial complex where it is explained to the students the role of oil in our daily lives and how the company responds to energy demands.
Within this Aprendenergía program, there is the Energy with Conscience project, on energy efficiency in the classrooms, the Mobile Energy Classroom or the activities of Fundación Repsol in Science Week, which returns to Cartagena in November 2019.
