On the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day, a group of artists from Cartagena have recited verses, danced and painted in defense of equality between genders and to preserve the rights of women.
These events took place in the garden area between Doctor Luis Calandre Street and Sebastián Feringán Street.
There has been a dance show 'The Goddess lineage', which through body language aims to remember the legacy of women who fought for their rights.
In addition, the writers María Teresa Cervantes, Lola Gutiérrez and Julia Moreno have offered a poetic recital, 'Cry of a woman', under the motto 'I scream for me'.
Urban murals have also been painted and the park has been decorated with the collaboration of the women of Cartagena.
In these acts have been the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the Councilor for Equality, David Martínez.
The first mayor of the city said that in this day rights are claimed "so that women can choose positions of responsibility without discrimination."
Castejón says that there are still "great challenges to be achieved".
He also wanted to express his "admiration and public recognition" to the women who have concentrated to celebrate Women's Day.
The mayor of Cartagena encourages to attend the demonstration that will depart at 7 pm from the Plaza de España.
"Regardless of our ideology, let's make a common front to say that we are not going to be trampled."
FLORAL ALLEGORY IN HÉROES DE CAVITE
A team of gardeners from Cartagena has made a floral allegory in the Plaza Heroes de Cavite.
It is a reproduction of the feminist symbol constructed with lilac flowers.
This is just one of the special plantations that are installed today on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Councilman Equality, David Martinez, believes that "feminism is a seed that must be planted, we must water, we must take care and we must make it flourish.
What better symbol than this with the flowers symbolizing that strength and that feminist struggle that we have to continue supporting and taking care of so that no one will step on it ".
