The Carnival of Cartagena has come to an end with the Burning of Don Carnal, which was held yesterday, March 5, at night, at 10 pm, at the Wsell Central Pavilion in Guimbarda.
Before the celebration of this pagan tradition, the comparsas left for the last time to the streets of Cartagena to waste color, light, humor and music.
At seven in the afternoon, from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the dancers, members of the comparsas, musicians, gave their last rhythms until the parade arrived at the Central Pavilion, where the burning of Don Carnal was staged, a rogue character that represents the merriment, debauchery and debauchery.
In addition, in the Central Pavilion, there was a fireworks show, the awards ceremony and the tasting of Don Carnal's 'balls' and Doña Cuaresma's 'nipples'.
The event was attended by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, together with the councilors of Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba;
Social Services, Mercedes García, and Deportes, Manuel Mora.
With the Burning of Don Carnal Carnival ends and gives way to Lent.
Today, March 6, Ash Wednesday, will take place the traditional Call of the Processions, where the brotherhoods announce the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the decision to take the processions to the street and in return the municipal authority manifests its approval.
The act will be at 20:30 hours, on the balcony of the Town Hall.
