The writer Rayco Pulido, author of the graphic novel 'Lamia' and finalist of the Mandarache 2019 Prize, presented his work on Tuesday, March 5, to more than 400 young people at the Muralla del Mar Campus of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
The presentation before the event was attended by the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, the writer of 'Lamia', Rayco Pulido, and the IES professor Juan Sebastián Elcano and member of the promoter group of the Mandarache Award, Ignacio García.
'Lamia', with which the Canarian author won the 2017 National Comic Award, is a black chronicle in the Barcelona of the 40s. A farce with a strong feminist background featuring a young woman who works in post-war radio to that living immensely in a lie has tragic consequences.
Rayco Pulido pointed out that "I have always wanted to work with a female character and the germ of the story has been to think that it is what can worry a current girl, from 35 to 40 years."
After this meeting, he will continue his activities in the afternoon visiting the Mandarache Library workshop at 17:00 in the ARQUA Museum library, and at 7:30 p.m., he will hold a meeting with university students and reading clubs open to the general public at the Cajamurcia Foundation.
On Wednesday the 6th, he will visit the IES Juan Sebastián Elcano, at 9 o'clock, and at 11 o'clock, at the Caja Mediterráneo Foundation he will finish his program with a meeting with two hundred students from other secondary schools, who participate in the project.
Rayco Pulido will be presented at the meetings by Ignacio García who has indicated that "this comic has been selected because it is exemplary, has a mastery of the spectacular narrative and has as protagonist a female character who is involved in a dark, postwar period" .
