On March 6, Ash Wednesday, the countdown of Holy Week in Cartagena will begin one more year, with the traditional Call of Processions.
It is an act in which the brotherhoods announce to the mayor their decision to take the processions to the street and the municipal authority expresses their approval and gives the traditional "check" containing the direct subsidy granted for this to the Board of Brotherhoods.
Before 8:30 p.m., the different brotherhoods will celebrate in their seats general councils, to then go together, to the sounds of a charanga, to the Consistorial Palace, where the members of the Board of Brotherhoods, accompanied by the elderly nazarene, Maria Consolation Pavía Galán;
the pregonero, Tomás Martínez Pagán and the processionist of the year, Rafael Ruiz Manteca, will be received by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, and the members of the municipal Corporation.
From the main balcony, the president of the Board of Brotherhoods will speak first, a position currently held by the elder brother, Francisco Pagán, who will communicate the decision to take the processions to the street.
Next the mayor will intervene who will give the municipal approval and deliver the check.
The act will end with the traditional shout of "Music and the street", which will mark the beginning of the general procession to the Basilica of Charity where the offering to the patron will be made.
HOLY WEEK PREGNANCY
After the Call will come the official proclamation of the processions, which will take place next Saturday, March 9, at the El Batel Auditorium starting at 8:00 p.m.
It will be an open act to all citizens who want to attend, regardless of the official protocol invitations that have been sent.
