The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the Secretary of State for Infrastructures, Pedro Saura, presented this morning the project of integral rehabilitation of the Train Station of Cartagena, which has a budget of around six million euros.
The project aims to enhance the value of the building and the transformation of its interior space to modernize it, adapting it to Adif's new operating criteria.
In addition, as main novelty, it incorporates a marquee on the platforms.
Its structure will be composed of the superposition and mixture of geometric elements that will change their inclination and orientation to qualify the entrance of sunlight and, at the same time, resemble the sharp shapes of the place.
As the main novelty, each plane of the marquee will be built with translucent elements that can acquire different colors and tonalities.
These elements incorporate small photovoltaic cells connected to a system of accumulators that allow the use of solar energy for the self-supply of light from the marquee itself.
The interior of the station will also be remodeled and redistributed completely to improve the service offered to travelers.
The mayor thanked the Ministry of Development and the Secretary of State, Pedro Saura for their support, because with this project they demonstrate once again "that they have Cartagena very present in their proposals".
