This Friday, March 1, the inauguration of the Casa Molino del Monte Sacro took place, restored by the City of Cartagena with funds from the Casco Antiguo Society of Cartagena.
The event began at 10 am with the assistance of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, accompanied by the councilors of Infrastructure, Juan Pedro Torralba, and Tourism and Culture, David Martínez.
The rehabilitation is the result of work of several months under the direction of the director of Heritage of the City through the Company that has been made with a budget of approximately 90,000 euros by the company PEGIRO.
"These windmills that are being restored are the hallmark of the recovery of the Cartagena Heritage," declared the mayor, "in total there are about 200 mills throughout the municipality and the initiative of the municipality is to be able to rehabilitate them all arriving to an agreement with those that are privately owned. "
Work is being carried out by the Department of Infrastructure, Heritage and Public Road to adapt the accesses to the mills already rehabilitated for their visit, as well as to design a route with defined hours and to have a guide for visits by groups in order to be able to count on a future with a new tourist route as it would be to tour all windmills and restored the municipality.
On the Monte Sacro, patrimonial projects have been carried out over the past two years, such as the Archaeological Training and Practice Campus, and there has also been intervention in the Water Reservoir, where a project is being designed to prepare the environment.
