The Short Week of Cartagena, the short film show of the Mucho Más Mayo Festival, has closed its registration period with a total of 277 short films registered.
Of these, 153 are from Spain, the rest come from countries such as Australia, Brazil, the United States, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Canada, Egypt, the Ivory Coast or France, which, with 22 shorts, is the most represented foreign country.
The organization highlights the quality of the works presented this year.
The short films that address the theme of the edition of the Festival Much More May 2019 will be especially valued: "The face of the other: art and hospitality".
Short films that incorporate a gender perspective and that take into account environmental sustainability will also be taken into account.
The jury is composed of Antonio A. Martínez.
Martínez is a scriptwriter, director and director of short films.
He directed the film festival in Cartagena for several years, and currently develops his audiovisual activity with the brand Multiverso Media and teaches film analysis classes at the school of adults of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
The other member of the jury is Raquel Torres, licensed in Dramatic Art, actress and co-director of the theater company La Murga.
The objective of the Short Week is to promote and create an atmosphere of dissemination and approach to the world of short films.
It is characterized by being a non-competitive sample in which the participating filmmakers are remunerated and which is celebrated on the street, in the purest style of summer cinema.
In the sample, 3 sections are established:
Local Sample (film maker / s)
Regional Sample (producer / a / s of the rest of the Region of Murcia)
Open Sample (filmmaker / s that are not within the previous categories)
The Short Week is an already consolidated contest that has received more proposals this year than the past, whose quality highlights the organization, and that in mid-March will announce the list of selected short films.
