On Tuesday, February 26, in the auditorium of the Caja Mediterráneo Foundation, the Cartagena En Femenino forum was held.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, was commissioned to inaugurate the forum, which was presented by the psychologist Maria Jesús Álava.
The event was the first day of the II Week of Women, organized by the newspaper La Verdad and the City of Cartagena.
The first mayor stressed the importance of the role of women in society as well as the need to learn to love oneself without fear of growing as professionals, mothers, wives or friends.
The mayor was accompanied yesterday by the Government delegate, Diego Conesa, and the councilors of Equality, David Martinez, the Councilor for Economic Strategy, Carmen Martin, the mayor of Transparency, Mercedes Garcia, the director of Truth, Antonio Gonzalez, and the general director of Women and Equality of the Community, Alicia Barquero.
The forum featured the professor in Sociology and former executive director of the United Nations Fund for Women, Inés Alberdi, who spoke on the history of feminism in Spain and the glass ceiling.
Carmen English, president of the Confederation of Federations and Associations of Families and Rural Women, also spoke about the role of women in rural areas.
This afternoon, February 27, the talks continue with Soledad Becerril and the president of the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver.
