The Sailing Federation of the Region of Murcia celebrated last Friday, February 22, its great annual party.
An act that once again took place at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and in which nearly 300 people gathered, among athletes, personalities of politics, culture and sport of the Region of Murcia.
The federative entity wanted to distinguish not only the sporting successes but also for achievements made in the past year to the Murcia sailors.
Along the same lines, he also wanted to thank the companies Terrafecundis and Spar for their contribution to the sport of sailing in the Region and which has contributed and contributes to their growth.
In the 26 distinctions awarded by the Federation some highlighted a little more than the rest.
Claudia León, one of the great promises of kitesurfing both regionally and nationally and projection, took one of the most important ovations, together with the Paralympic sailors Kike Vives, runner-up in the world class RS Venture in Canada or the podium achieved by Carlos Martínez in Ireland in the Laser Standard fleet.
Diego Fructuoso also highlighted in the evening for his contribution the Vela of the Region of Murcia, after being part of various international teams, or the Spanish project of the Volvo Ocean Race, always being a steward of the Region.
They also highlighted the successes of the Pez de Abril teams, winning the Copa del Rey-Mapfre in the Swan 42 class, or the second place achieved in this same regatta by El Carmen-Elite Sails in the always difficult and complicated ORC 2 class. The team of Optimist also its moment, and in front of it one of the technicians that has given more to the infantile candle as it is Jesus Barrionuevo.
Special mentions also took Pepe Pérez, for his great sports career, but especially in the Snipe class.
The small company Estrella Polar also received an award for all that it has contributed to the Classic Sail highlighting the reconstruction of several ships.
The Naval Commission of Regatas was another of the groups that received the warmth of the attendees.
The contribution of the Spanish Navy to the promotion of the sport of sailing has been and is decisive, especially in Cartagena.
The Real Club de Regatas of Santiago de la Ribera was recognized by the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, which, thanks to its president, Julia Casanueva, received a special distinction for its recent birthday, with 100 years of history.
An award that was received by its president Horacio Sánchez who wanted to share, jointly the one granted by the FVRM, with all the athletes of the Club that attended the evening.
The FVRM gala had its moment of "~ relax" T in the hands of Javier Botía, champion of the world of mentalism, a title he achieved last July of 2018 in Busan, Korea.
Botía contributed that moment of humor that delighted everyone.

Blas Isaac Calventus, president of the Association of Nautical Clubs and Ports of Sports of the Region of Murcia, as well as Ana López, General Director of Terrafecundis with various presidents of clubs in the Region and other personalities.
